Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a traditional ayurvedic treatment which involves pouring continuous stream of warm medicated oil over a marma point located on the forehead.

 

You'll be welcomed into my tranquil therapy space with a glass of water or choice or warm herbal teas. There will be an opportunity to discuss your reasons for selecting this treatment along with looking at your unique constitution and any imbalances that you might want to address.  Following this, I'll select the perfect medicated oil for your unique circumstances.

You'll lay on a heated table with warm, comfortable blankets and your eyes will be protected with cotton pads. A continuous stream of warm medicated oil will pour over your forehead and third eye for 30 minutes taking you into your own personal meditation.

​

Following the oil pouring you'll be given a face and head massage to release tension. Marma points - vital points of life force energy- will be stimulated. These points are located at conjunctions of important anatomical structures like joints, nerves and blood vessels and are thought to bring balance of vata, pitta and kapha.

This treatment is designed to bring clarity of mind and a sense of deep relaxation and peace.
